The Feather River
Located around Gold Country, we guide The Feather from Oroville to Gridley. The Feather offers some of the best opportunities in the North State to land a Steelhead. With the King run ending in the early fall, the leaves begin to turn and the days begin to cool and those elusive, ocean-going Rainbows start to show. With most fish weighing in at 3-5 lbs., there’s always the chance of landing that 10+ lb pig. We fish The Feather out of our McKenzie style drift boats, working the riffles and the long-runs. Steelhead are notorious for eluding anglers, even the most experienced. Landing a Steelhead is a three step process: The Hookup, The Fight, and if you play your cards right, The Land.
Seasons...
We drift the feather starting in mid October and staying strong through the winter.
How we Fish it...
We fish the Feather out of our Mckenzie style drift boats. All of our guides are experienced oarsmen that dedicate the whole day on targeting where the fish live and getting your flies into the strike zone. During a day float, we also have certain places we like to stop and wade and fish for a period of time. If this is desired, let us know, we are working for you.
